Just like bad girl Rhi Rhi Rihanna quotes’’ shine bright like a diamond’’. We want that feeling all day everyday, and not just after a facial, or when our skin decides to be on its best behaviour because its ovulation time. So how can we shine bright like our girl Rhi Rhi? You’ve probably seen every marketing glow product under the sun been shoved in your face on instagram and by the good old instagram influencers? I guarantee you have half of the random products in your cupboard, half full because it wasn’t our girl Rhi Rhi…. instead we got scammed with one of Mariah Carey’s one hit wonders. A skincare product isn’t going to maintain that glow, and there isn’t one magical product that will make you glow all day everyday. The active skincare ingredients you may already have like Niacinamide, Vitamin C , and Mandelic Acid just to name a few ,are already doing that as part of their job. So what’s the solution in maintaining the glow and downloading Rhi Rhi’s whole album to our playlist?
Below are my top 15 steps to shine bright like a diamond:
Step 1 : Change your pillow case from cotton to either silk satin or silk. Cotton holds more bacteria than a toilet seat and causes aggravation against your skin which irritates it and depletes the skin’s moisture. Just like the same way Mariah Carey’s Christmas album is on repeat everyday in December.
Step two: Try using an oil based product that is rich in antioxidants, or switching your night time routine up and using a face oil 3 times a week to give your skin that nourishment and love. It’s so good to introduce a face oil 3x a week into your routine as it helps lock moisture into the skin more than a simple moisturiser. ‘’ if you have an acne skin you can use a ceramide based moisturiser instead.’’
Step three: always remove your makeup before bed rain hail or shine!!
Step four: Sipping on H20 yea… as Snoop would say. Water makes up the majority of our body and the skin contains 64% of that! Yep, 64% H20 in our skin plays a major part in our dermis. This is where our two best friends Collagen and Elastin live. These two Queens need their daily dose so they can keep living their hot girl summer life, plumping and hydrating our skin. If our Queens aren’t getting their daily dose of H20 then you can guarantee a bitch fight is going to brakeout.
Step five: The stripper in you should only come out on special occasions and on your terms. However, sometimes we give into that side of us a little to often when that F* boy keeps hitting you up and leaving you on read after he got what he needed ; leaving us feeling crazy and like shit. The skin also has an F* boy who likes to play games with us like harsh chemicals and substances that we tend to put on our skin which strips our acid mantle. We need to make sure we are nourishing our skin with good antioxidants and not punishing it with the regular F* boy that only hits you up on your insta stories after 12am.
Step six: The skin loves a good feed and in particular loves vitamin C. The best way to get your daily dose of C is by incorporating more citrus fruits like Kiwifruit, Strawberries, Capsicum and raw Brassica veggies.
Step 7:’’ My milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard, and they’re like it’s better than yours, damn right, it’s better than your’s’,’ the famous quote from our girl Kelis. Unfortunately the only boys we are bringing to the yard are the fuck boys. ( Miscusi) just like sugar it tastes good , it’s addictive, but we know it’s not good for us…. exactly like that boy that ain’t good for your self worth babe. Sugar ,along with processed foods depletes our skin. For 4 weeks try eliminating that 2am booty call , sugar and processed foods little by little and I guarantee it will enhance your glow.
Step 8: just like the way the ocean flows throughout the day we need that same calm flow in our body. Regular bowel movement eliminates the built up toxins within the body and skin. Increasing your good nutrients with herbs like St. Mary’s Thistle , Globe Artichoke and Turmeric helps support your liver giving us that healthy skin on the outside.
Step 9: Hands down thumbs up, the same rules in this game applies to your face; touching your face on a regular basis is feeding the skin bad bacteria , dirt and grime. Only touch your face when your hands are clean!!
Step 10: Everything good always comes with a price, and this one is Dairy. If you are experiencing skin congestion, pimples , cyst under the skin , rosace , fluid retention, it might be a good idea to lessen the amount of dairy you are consuming everyday or try a dairy free diet for 4 weeks. Dairy can raise our IGF1 in our body that sends a message to our skin to produce more oil than it should. This leaves us a little too ‘’glowing’’. If you start feeling better after trialling this and the skin clears up, make sure you consult your doctor, or nutrition professional, to look into what your alternatives can be long term.
Step 11: Be the rainbow, it’s important to eat plenty of antioxidant rich foods. This helps give us the ultimate glow all day ,everyday ,as it’s feeding the rainbow within us to shine on the outside. Raspberries and Blueberries are your number one skin support berries.
Step 12: Girl you are way too beautiful to have that frown upside down, less stress and more trust is needed. Stress is the number one oxidative skin killer. Don’t let it be the number one glow killer as well.
Step 13: Just like that one friend you always have that hypes you up and puts you in a good headspace, we need that support and hype sometimes on a regular basis, taking supplements to help you be your best also helps you glow your best. Antioxidant based gut powders or fatty acids are your biggest hype glow friends.
Step 14: Joy, what lights you up? What makes you excited about life? What gets you out of bed every morning? Feeling gratitude and stimulating your own natural Serotonin gives you the best glow of all.
Step 15: Be kind to yourself , love yourself and talk good things about yourself. Stand in the mirror and look at that beautiful face and name three things you love about yourself and that you are grateful for. That’s lifes true glow. All these other steps are pointless unless we are doing the most important step of all and that’s loving ourselves and being at one with ourselves. The purpose of life is to live. So live with that glow.
